What is physiotherapy?
Physiotherapy is the treatment or management of physical disability, malfunction or pain by a variety of physical and manual techniques. It helps patients reduce pain and improve and restore mobility.
As orthopedic specialist physiotherapists, we work with our patients by offering a unique combination of traditional physiotherapy and the exercise method developed by Joseph Pilates. We use electrical stimulation, ultrasound, iontophoresis, moist heat and ice to help heal injured structures and to alleviate joint and soft tissue inflammation, spasm and pain. We also perform sophisticated manual techniques to restore mobility to stiff joints and muscles, followed by strengthening exercises.
Is physiotherapy effective?
Physiotherapy is effective because it goes beyond treating an acute injury or area of pain to work on overall strength and core awareness. We aim to teach our patients techniques that help support their bodies in their everyday activities and prevent future injuries.
By combining treatment with Pilates-based therapy, we focus on utilizing the core in all movement to provide more stability. As we work on strengthening the core, our body’s movements are centered from within and our spinal alignment improves.
